Good morning friends,
I write this interlude issue from the incredibly beautiful County Wexford in Ireland.
Not only is a trip to Ireland worthwhile at any time and for any reason, but it is also an ancestral land of mine.
In this sense, it feels like a place of nurturance.
It’s somewhere I associate with family and lineage.
And I always find it poignant to be here.
This is the first time that I’ve been this far south, and I can’t help but be aware of the sombre reasons my family (and that of my husband) left these shores - in search of a better life.
Just as when I am in the north, among the Mourne Mountains of County Down, I feel connected to the land, and it’s all - the entire island of Ireland - simply gorgeous!
As I mentioned last time, the theme for June’s letters is Nurture, and I guess you could say I am nurturing myself and my family with this short break.
Being together, without an agenda, away from the pressures of the world, in our bubble of peace, is our most favourite thing to do.
A large part of our adventure this time, has been cycling the whole of the Waterford Greenway! 28 miles!
I love cycling. It’s a form of yoga to me. But cycling along this disused railway - all of us - our bodies in motion, listening only to the breeze and birdsong, was a thing of memorable beauty.
The wide open space and friendly passers-by, coupled with endless picturesque vistas, felt, not only freeing, but massively inspiring.
My take-away from this experience is that the world can be so noisy, which is why it is important to prioritise peace.
It’s important to create our bubbles and to protect them.
(And it’s my hope that The Yoga Letters doesn’t just add to the racket. So, if for you it does, I encourage you to unsubscribe. Please, prioritise your peace!)
As with any moment of travel, a change of perspective ensues and the view on things opens up, and I think travel allows for a reconnection to the true intentions of our lives.
Resetting the compass of direction.
Allowing us to reevaluate things.
With this is mind, I have been further nurturing myself by considering that which is most important to me and mine.
As always, I encourage you to do the same: use your yoga (in whichever way works) to reconnect with yourself, and ask:
What do I most need?
How can I best nurture myself?
Spend a moment, now, following your breath, and see what comes up for you.
Remembering that we don’t have to go far to welcome a sense of space in our lives.
We just need to remember to breathe.
So, until next time,
Peace, love and kindness,
Louisa
