Dear friends,
It’s Friday, once again, and, finally, it’s the last Friday of January.
Whether the start of your year has been calm or hectic, heavenly or hellish, I think the appearance of February is always welcome.
This morning, as well as noticing the increasingly light, I could hear birdsong. Underneath the rumbles of morning traffic, the beeping bin lorries and the clatter of recycled bottles, there was the distinct chirping and chattering of our little feathered friends.
This, as we all know, mark’s the start of the time for them to be busy nesting. Getting ready for spring.
So there’s no doubt that there’s a sense of change quietly brewing in the air and stirring in the ground beneath us, and it won’t be long now until we start to see the first shoots appearing through the frost—because winter isn’t quite done yet.
So not to wish away the last days of January. These days still have their worth.
Not least because, just as for the birds, these days give us the space we need to get things (and ourselves) a little more sorted—however that may look for you.
Going slowly as we do, and resting when we can. Savouring the dwindling energy of hibernation, and gently awakening to nature’s call towards movement.
February’s theme for The Yoga Letters Issue #3 (out on 3rd February) is: Renewal. So it has these ideas very much in mind. As ever, we will be moving slowly with these concepts. Taking things at our own pace, with our unique needs at the centre. Making our practice our own.
To leave you, here is a page of journal prompts that perhaps you might find useful, to begin tuning in to this sense of the stirring that is within you.
So, until next time…
Louisa

Just loved reading this. I could hear the recycling bottles and bin truck beeping and bird song so vividly. Beautifully written
