Dear writers,
If you haven’t done so already, I really encourage you to check out this month’s Issue #24 to get an overview of the Eight Limbs of Yoga, as, perhaps, a way to begin considering this ancient yogic wisdom in relation to your own thoughts and feelings.
What struck me when I looked at this, again, as part of my own journey of rediscovery, was just how often I forget these aspects.
My attention gets dragged off here, there, and everywhere.
Which is why it’s called a ‘practice.’ Because a practice is something that we have to do, not just once or twice, but continuously. We have to keep practicing.
And it’s also why we may think we know a lot about yoga, but, really, we can never fully understand everything, once and for all.
Nope. We have to keep coming back to it.
And each time we do, we’re offered an opportunity to comprehend something new, or to understand what we may already know but on a deeper level.
Similarly, with my writing, I feel there is often a sense of the cyclical; returning to the same topics and subjects.
The familiar questions that come to me in the middle of the night, year after year.
Sometimes, it’s as if there is something more mysterious at play. Something inexplicable and of the mysterious universe and not just of little old me.
And then I remember:
I am a part of this universe too!
Which is why, I think, the eight limbs - when applied to my writing - offers some fascinating insights…
